Granada: Abadia del Sacromonte

I took the tour because it was included with my Granada Pass. I had not heard of this place prior to planning my trip to Granada. I knew they had ancient manuscripts from quickie research on the internet and the Secret Granada book. The tour disappointed me because they only showed us about a dozen ancient texts – I was dreaming about walking through rows of massive shelves filled with ancient texts.… Read More

Segovia: Casa-Museo de Antonio Machado

One of my goals when I travel, is to see and learn new things. The trip to Segovia served me well. The alcazar was the inspiration for my deciding to spend a week in Segovia. I particularly like to stay in smaller towns. I like the quiet, I seem to be able to soak up their history. I like the sense of being out in the open. I like being able to walk across town in ten minutes. I ended up really liking Segovia. I stayed in the old historic part – the medieval city with much of its walls remaining intact.… Read More

T-Shirt Designs: Mezquita-Catedral de Cordoba

From doing internet searches, I find that dragons come in all shapes, styles, colors, and sizes. The sky is the limit. Lots of creativity permitted. That attracts me. I love letting my imagination run wild. The ribbing in the cathedral ceiling reminded me of wings – bat wings specifically – but bats are, um, not in style these days. Nor are they that big. So, I thought dragon wings. This was before the other two dragons appeared in shirt designs. This was months ago.… Read More

T-shirt Designs: Casa del Hildago (aka Museo Rodera-Robles)

When I arrived in Segovia, I visited the tourist information place. The nice lady gave me a map of Segovia with tourist stuff marked on it and a very long list of everything on the back side. The list gave a brief description of each location and included small photos from many as well. Casa del Hildago looked interesting. Before going, it can be tough to know if you’re going to tour an empty historic building, or one filled with furniture, or one filled with an art exhibit.… Read More

Segovia: The Alcazar

The alcazar is billed as being famous for inspiring the Disney Castle, so I didn’t have high expectations for my visit. I was expecting to gawk and go. But they have a self-guided (audio optional) tour through many of the castle rooms – and the rooms are quite lavishly finished. Good tile work, exquisite wood detailing, etc. Well worth the time and price to take the tour. Don’t just show up and take the famous exterior photo of the west facade.… Read More
